Where Shooters Become Athletes
The Burial Mound isn't just a competition range. It's a proving ground where runners become shooters and shooters become athletes. We built this place because we believe competition should push you past your limits — physically, mentally, and technically.
The Burial Mound Event Center sits in the rolling fields and wooded terrain of Pawnee County, north-central Oklahoma. Established in 2022, the facility spans two farms connected by county roads — with courses stretching across open grassland, dense tree cover, hills, draws, and natural obstacles.
The property has hosted competitive shooting since at least 2015, when the original Oklahoma Run N Gun first brought centerfire biathlon to these fields. Today, The Burial Mound is recognized as one of the longest continually running Run N Gun venues in the country, drawing 130–170 competitors per event who consistently sell it out.
From stage three to stage four, the course can span 2.5 miles alone. Engagement distances range from 5 yards on pistol stages to 600 yards on the rifle range. Physical obstacles — cargo nets, walls, tunnels, embankment climbs — are woven into courses that traverse the full breadth of both properties.
Shooting stage props include vehicles, swings, buildings, hatches, barrels, and improvised positions that force competitors to shoot in conditions that aren't perfect — which is exactly the point.
The Run N Gun community is built on a simple idea: competition should be open to anyone willing to put in the work. The Burial Mound welcomes civilians and law enforcement alike, from first-time competitors to seasoned multi-gun athletes.
Whether you're running your first 5K course with a rifle on your back or you're a veteran competitor chasing a podium finish, this is a place where skill levels converge on the same terrain and push each other forward. Events regularly feature competitors from across the state and beyond, united by the shared challenge of running, shooting, and surviving the Oklahoma landscape.
Beyond the competition clock, The Burial Mound has built a community around shared meals, sponsor prize drawings, and the kind of camaraderie that only comes from suffering through the same course together.
